Artfest 2012

I was so very fortunate to have experienced Artfest 2012. Artfest is an art retreat organized by Teesha and Tracy Moore held at the historic Fort Worden outside Seattle. Not fortunate just to be asked to teach but to experience first hand the magic that IS ARTFEST. I can't really explain the spirit of the place enough to stress how amazing the retreat was. The spirit of it all was inspiring beyond art, what was truly inspiring was the spirit of all the people there who were so genuine and ready to share. Someone I was glad to meet there said it best when she described the Arfest experience with excitement and joy that she felt like had "Found her tribe!"

I taught two classes, a Journal Book Bag class and a Monster Rag Doll class. I am happy I got to meet the students who signed up for my classes. They were inspiring, fun and again genuine.
I forgot my camera at home so all of these are taken with the phone cam. It turned out forgetting the cam was a good thing because I wasn't obssessed with running around, hiding behind my camera losing myself in the scenery instead of interacting with all of the wonderful students and teachers. I say hide because I didn't know anyone there and a lot of the attendees have been going for years and most know each other. But like I said the spirit of it all was genuine and so everyone was welcoming and I felt comfortable instantly.

These various pics are of the students' work and my inspiration board I made to take. I pretty much just took down part of my wall in my home workroom! I wanted to give the students an idea of what kinds of things inspire me to create.

All in all I will never forget Artfest! Thank you Teesha and Tracy!
