The Rabbit

The Rabbit is full of tales if you can get them out of it.

Wonky

I love wonky things. I love wonky stitches. I love to see the stitching on things. This is just a wonky little pillow, sturdy but quirky.

The Haunted Girl

"Drawing" with the sewing machine is fun. I may make pets next.

Eat Sleep Voodoo

Well I didn't make that robot yesterday because I wasn't feeling it and I didn't want to screw up because I only have limited amount of fabric for the robot. Instead I made more voodoos. It's relaxing for me :D Here they are and I will be posting them throughout the day. Two will go as a pair.

School starts soon! Wow. I hope my kid doesn't pull the "I don't want to wear that" crappola after we buy her what she picks out. It's happened every year! My kids don't like to wear denim either. They are all about comfort. I don't blame them. Anywhoo, this is going to mean 6:00 am alarm again.....OH HOW I DREAD THIS.

Voodoo Boo

I know I have been slacking lately but I have been busy with kids. Here, there, everywhere!! I itch to get on that sewing machine for more than 20 minutes!! I have a robot planned for today and I will move mountains to get to it :)

Last night I did get another voodoo done though. He is made from the softest polyester "velvet". He was a *itch to photograph though. :D

Voodoo Boo awaits Halloween each year with such anticipation! he has already perfected his sinister hobble.

Voodoo Marie

Voodoo Marie's faded elegance hints of her New Orleans past.

Marie is made from recycled fabrics and buttons. Marie's front fabric is from a handmade bolero jacket lining. Her back fabric is a taffeta type fabric that lined another handmade piece of clothing that I bought secondhand.
Marie's eyes are two recycled buttons from a large jar I purchased at an antique mall. She has one metal eye with faded paint and one pearly one.

I think that the Voodoo's are going to be my main Halloween contribution this season :D

I can make Voodoo's all the live long day. *Sigh*

Maybe if I can make a big batch at once I can take a Halloween display photo. Wouldn't a long line of Voodoo's look great along a mantle (which I don't have) or sideboard??

Viva Halloween!

:D

Division Street

These are some shops on Division. I love the name of the vintage shop LIVED IN LOVER. :D And the sign is great! And that bar looks fun.

This Rain

This rain is great for putting me into the sewing/crafty mood. Just like some people wanna curl up with a book on days like this, I get all itchy for thread. I mean, I love books, too, but my free time is limited and I'd rather sew. Also this gray is great for the early Halloween spirit. I am thinking of making.... well, actually I don't wanna jinx myself! I'll just do it :D

These photos are of two yard sale books and my daughter's painting.

Collages I found

These are some of the collages I found that I made over a year ago. The bunny boy is the only one I used some scrapbook paper for. I need to think of a way to bring these to life in plush form, but keeping their scrappiness and dirtiness. Hmm?

Pillow Find

The day before yesterday I was looking through my fabric to sew something up and I found this applique I must have made a couple of months ago!! I was thinking when in the hell did I make this?! I still can't exactly remember when, :D So I finished it up as a pillow. I think the colors are fun and bright. It is made mainly with new fabric.
Then yesterday I went into the basement looking through my unpacked boxes for some sort of crate or wooden box I could use in a display and I ended up finding older art stuff. It was great to rediscover stuff I made like collages, paintings on found wood bocks, doodles, et! It was a mini Christmas! :D I think I will post some of my earlier inspiration. Later. Later after my 3 cups of coffee.
And it's still cloudy and raining! :D It feels like Fall. I don't mind it at all, it's a nice change.
My daughter's first soccer practice tonight! :D It's her first ever sport! I am nervous, I hope she likes it, I hope she isn't too shy, blah blah. A mom can worry a whole bunch :D

New Junkus

Skulls, dollheads, voodoo....I must have been dropped on my head as a baby OR I had another life in New Orleans, hehe. Whatever the case these are my loves including Halloween, costumes, just all around good masked fun!
I have added a Happy Skull pillow to my shop as well as a Voodoo Boy and Girl. They aren't real, just my romantized take on voodoo.

Oh, have you ever heard of Skull A Day blog? You should know about it! :D

I added a link to the list.

Rain!!!

First, after these insanely hot days I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO thrilled that we have rain! And a cool breeze...ahhh. When you don't have central air you can't function :D

Also this is the squirrel I made for a customer request. I don't always take custom orders unless I have an idea for it because sometimes I just can't force myself to come up with anything. I did have fun making up a squirrel though because I doubt I would have attempted it on my own.

I have some new items to put up today, hopefully the cloudy day light won't give me too much trouble.

Nail Biting

Okay, first look at this wonderful, magnificent painted piece of furniture....wardrobe. Just beautiful and to die for!! I have an old 30's wardrobe that we retired to the basement because it didn't fit in our small new living room. I could do something like this to it. I could but.... but I am a truly truly kid at heart who has not forgotten the magic of fairytales, etc and so I imagine my 30's wardrobe (that's in the basement) like the one from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe... How can i paint an authentic piece of furniture???? This is always my dilemma! Sigh sigh sigh.....I want to funk it up, kinda like a Bloomsbury, but then....sigh. What to do?? I found these great pics through:

Fronts and Backs

I am working on a Kitty girl right now from one of the many little doodles I do about the day. It's looking pretty close to the drawing which doesn't always happen. It is a simple design afterall, but still. I love the orange-green folk flower fabric. It's from a curtain. I only had one panel that didn't fit anywhere in my house. If I had had two panels I may have hung them up somewhere because it's a pretty cool bold design.
Sometimes I get the urge to stuff a plushie inside out because I love the crazy thread behind the scenes. It's a battle sometimes :D

Ginny

Penelope

Penelope is my newest creature. I can't exactly call her a monster...hmm, she is a ragdoll that is a little monster, a little bunny and a little bird-like...

I am also working on a squirrel that was requested by a customer. In greens. It's all cut out now I just have to sew it together and hope for the best :D

Later I will post another little creature, but for now the kids, the real life kids who live in this house need to eat!! The hour is embarrassingly late for breakfast....

Berry Picking

It's hot today but somehow we got some berry picking in at Krueger Farms, Sauvie Island. There is talk of a bluebery pie later but we'll see if anyone dares turn the oven on.
