Mine all mine

I'm almost out of this particular fabric that lined a handmade jacket that I have been using for some of my plushes. It's my favorite! I figure that I should start making some mini plushes for me to keep, because I am thrilled when they sell but I miss some of them!! :D It will give me a reason to make little box houses for them to hang. To hang in this future studio that I keep hoping for, ha! So I made this wee one. I haven't named her or dreamed up a story for her yet.

New plush and panic

Oh, I made this colorful little bunny guy last night :) All he needs is a label on the back....I made an interesting pirate rabbit too, but I couldn't get a decent picture of her....Also, in other news, I haven't started on my Halloween costume....I switched from pirate to a loose interpretation of Tia Dalma the Voodoo Lady....oh I can't wait to have black teeth!! :D I would really love to get a chicken/ rooster claw, but where from?? I mean not real, but...where anyway??

Folky Kitty Painting

I did this other painting, too. The colors are cheery.
Who would have thought that all the average (No hideous demon skulls...etc) pitchforks would be gone days ago??? My daughter is going to be a devil and I can't find one stinking pitchfork...Running around to 6 differnt places is when Halloween gets stupid :D

Folk art Paintings

I have added two paintings to my ETSY. They were sooo hard to photograph! I am still not happy with the photos, but...whatever...I have a series of paintings on square blocks of wood that I started a year ago...they are what I call my cabaret girls. I think I will finish them and post them, too. I love the 20's and 30's and the whole cabaret world. And Cabaret, the movie is one of my all time faves!
Where was I?? Oh yeah, my stinky photos....yeah gotta work on that...

I just love french girls names

I have made two new monster girls, Mignon and Cosette. I made them using a handmade bolero jacket that I purchased at Goodwill years ago. I purposely used the fabrics inside-out because I love the fray and deconstructed look. Old clothes inspire me. A lot of my voodoo type monsters have french names, it started because I was inspired by New Orleans.
These two JunkerJane name thingies are from cards I made the other day. It also reminds me I need to change my header!

The Winner Is.....

We put all of the 9 names into Mr. Scary's head. Mr. Scary is a handmade headvase I got at one of these sales in which you buy a bag for 2 bucks and fill it till it's bursting. Anyway, then we mixed them up and pulled out... Lulu!
Lulu, send me an email with your address and I will send you Voodoo Violet straight away :D

Too Cool Blog

Oh, look at this.....just right for the season, not that some of us need that excuse :D

Paintings

I actually made two paintings last night on recycled wood. I have been wanting to add paintings because it is my secret wish to be a folk art painter :) Well, not so secret but it's my ultimate dream....so far :D They are not finished yet but here is a peek. The colors may be a bit more yellow due to the light. I really like to paint on wood and usually I just can't get past a blank canvas ! I love the texture and feel of wood and the challenge of painting on found items. I will be putting them up on etsy when they are finished.

Pirate Antoinette

Pirate Antoinette's boudoir of fading silks and toile reveal the decadence of times past.
I think I never did grow up and all those children's books my mom read to me until I could read myself really do come into play now huh? :D A faded toile boudoir...hee hee... Pirate Cats! I am happy that I can make these things and people relate!

Oh! some of these movies I love myself!! And the others I look forward to watching!

VOODOO GIVEAWAY

It was Voodoo Violet's natural look of innocent befuddlement that earned her top respect among other trickster voodoo boys and girls.
It was because of this that Voodoo Violet always got the riskiest prank jobs.

Voodoo Violet measures approx. 6 1/2 inches tall by 5 1/2 inches wide. She is made from recycled fabrics and buttons.

All you have to do is leave a comment naming a favorite movie. I will toss all of the names in a bowl and have my daughter pick it out... Say....on Sunday...Sunday October 19th at 12:00 pm Pacific time.

That GIVEAWAY

Okay, I didn't forget about that giveaway I mentioned. In fact I am going to post it later and then all you will have to do is leave a comment telling me your favorite movie. I have never done this before so.....I mean it can't be that difficult, right? :D
I haven't actually made it yet and I am still deciding what it should be??

It's been a really nice Fall so far. Lots of changing leaves and crisp air. Still sunny days...

Trixie the Anteater

Hello, I added a new gal today to the JunkerJane plush family... This is Trixie...

Trixie glanced at the hill one final time. Trixie had a plan....it would take more than the usual wiles to get the motherload.

I am thinking because we have a 3 day weekend I may try to get some stuff out. All of my voodoos are gone so I think I will add more of those, too.

Isn't Fall wonderful??

Fall is here!

Around here things got Halloweeny on October 1st!! I couldn't resist masking our two little stone creatures out front. Ahhhh.
I finished a custom rooster today.
I am going to be a scurvy pirate for Halloween and by that I mean a drab authentic one and not a red satin stripe one :D I am doing it from scratch sorta...not sewing something from scratch by piecing it together from second hand stuff. Last year I did a Marie Antoinette that way. It looked pretty damned good, but I really need to set to work NOW because I usually panic last minute :D Even though I do the second hand route it isn't cheap, it still comes out spendy, but it's fun!

Unofficial Break

heya, I think I am going to take a month off. I need to have a break and come back refreshed. Plus I am trying to paint some of the rooms in the house before the real cold weather comes. I don't think I can stand living with these previous home owner colors another winter! They are not hideous or anything, just not me. Not to mention all of the kids activities and this evil 6:00 am alarm ( I have never been a morning person)
So I'll be around but just not sewing much.

:D

It's about time!

Here are two works in progress. I will probably get around to posting them tomorrow.

Do you think it's too early to put up Halloween decorations outside??? :D
I have some great skullys and purple lights!

Hurry October, Hurry!!!

September is...

still an adjustment month. Man! I have not been able to get into any groove or flow....YET. October should be better. I mean by then I will used to the pace. I had to take a "nap" today!! I mean it was the only kinda nap mudders are allowed to take, with one eye open.
I like all my drab little dudes, but I think I need to make summore colorful characters, ya know, the happy little ones that make you wanna smile. It's just that I look at my piles of fabric and then the TV and I think, damn that couch and TV are lookin' mighty fine. :D Then I sit for a couple of hours channel flipping cause I can't help myself.
September.
Be gone.

Queenie

Frack

Here is Edgar, he gave me hell trying to photograph.
He isn't even one of my monster sketches that I talked about....
I am having a mini personal crisis..

Monster Edgar is thrilled with his two new fangs. Of course they are not full size yet, but he dreams of the possibilities!
I will be fine, as usual :D

Edgar....Monster Edgar...

SNEEZE

I'm cleaning the basement out and talk about dust! I have made a pretty good dent, but there is still so much more to go. But I am fully charged because it'll be a workspace for me and then I can have a sort of studio...."studio". I would really like an inspiration wall.
SNEEZE

Back to work.

HeeHee

This is as far as i got the guy stuffed and he looked so darned scary hanging over like this that I had to take his pic.

WIP

My new guy.... the only reason he is a WIP is because I ran out of damn polyfil!!

Grrr. I am going to going hunt and peck around my crafty area, maybe I can find enough clusters around to make the guy a monster.

Bette

Bette is a little bear. I love working with red, even though I rarely do. It's bright and cheery.

This morning I worked on some true monster designs and I think I came up with some great ones. I will try to put some of these out this week.

These remind me of my childhood.

Some blogger mentioned that Halloween was 50-something days away!

Crap.

What am I gonna be??

A wig is a must.

Funky Stump Doll

This funky Marie Antoinette stump doll is made from recycled fabrics and buttons. The felt eye patch is handsewn on and Marie has a embroidery beauty mark. Her rosy cheeks are thanks to a Crayola crayon.

Marie measures approx. 9 and 1/2 inches tall and 4 inches wide.

Nora the Woodland Rabbit

Nora is a woodland rabbit who resides in a stone cottage on the side of a mountain. She delights in the coming of Fall when the promise of crackling hearth fires is in the air.

ELSE...

Dollheads. Skulls and dollheads. Then food and shelter. :D

I'm gonna do a giveaway.

When? In a week or two.

What? I dunno.

Why? For kicks.

Who? You.

Skulls and....who needs anything else!?

:D This is on the way to my daughter's school. Gotta love who did this!! Hehe.

Art Car

Yesterday we went to breakfast in Sellwood and nearby was this.....art car extraordinaire! I am a huge fan of art cars and my heart always does a flip when I see one.
