For the softie makers

I just saw this on http://danitaart.blogspot.com/ . It's an announcement for softie submissions to a Stampington Publication.

I love their magazines! Anyway I wrote an email saying I was interested. What softie maker wouldn't be?? They put out beautiful, inspiring magazines.

So if any of you softie makers are reading this, go take a look and try for submissions! :) There is a June deadline so hurry.

New creations and some of my packaging.

I REALLY need to work on organization because I really can do a good display, haha.
Display makes a huge difference.

I used to have so much "stuff" but each time I moved I got rid of a lot.....DUMB. I don't think downsizing is good for everyone, nope NO WAY. Packrats should stick to what they know best. :)

It's all about the light, man

Okay, well I dunno if the weather all over the country is bizarro, too, but this year we have had more rain and gray days. A week or so ago it got hot and summery and we all thought HEY! This is it, winter is over, YAY....but then the rain and clouds came back. I don't mind too much because I can get more work done when the weather isn't so grand, but it's the lighting, man... It makes it harder to take a decent photo. You should see me, hauling the little creatures around, throwing blinds around, pushing curtains back, uploading, cursing blurry pics, repeat! Repeat!!! I am a mini hurricane during this whole process. Maybe it's just me.

I made three new little creatures, but I am going to try to hope for some sun later and take the pics then. Here is a sneak peek of one in midnight's lightbulb light.

Brooch Pin

I am going to start making little monsters called Lost and Foundlings from my scraps...which really is what inspires me anyway. So to even try to suggest (on my part)that they are an afterthought isn't right. Somehow it's the "for fun" "to relax" projects that are really the heart and soul of you.

Catfish Kate

I dunno, everytime I make a new stuff-ed I think it is my fave....

Samson

Here's the new Monster all stuffed. I love his colors. They define me, most of the time...hehe.

Inspiration

I am always inspired by the cut, inside-out, fraying parts of clothes....or fabric. It's my scrap bowl(haha, yeah a tupperware one) that inspires me....and when I say scraps I don't mean what other people probably mean...the skinniest scraps and shreds that i can't throw away, only useful to the nutty. Anyway it's looking at all that tangled thread that gets my wheels working. I don't know about you but this is how I work.

Is today Tuesday or Wednesday??

Okay, I know I totally broke my own vow, but I am back to try to post daily... Along with two newer creations, I am posting the little doodles that inspired them. I always love to see the work progress of other crafters.
A lot of my stuff is a mixed look because usually I can't stand to recreate things. I get bored easily. Plus I have so many ideas fighting for space upstairs that I need to keep experimenting. Anyhoo...

Excuses

It's been kind of hard to do anything lately because of a cold everyone seems to be getting AND now that the weather is finally hot the kids want to be outside all of the time.
I can't seem to take any good photos of those three little paintings! I will try again.

Junker Jane style bows

I am kinda excited about these two "bows" I made completely from recycled stuff. I am thinking they could be used on a gift bag instead of a traditional boring bow. OR just to hang. I am in love with them because they are funky shabby elegant. Hee. The pirate patch is drawn on with a fade proof/waterproof ink pen and the rosy cheeks are thanks to a sweet pink Crayola crayon. This is the kind of funky mix I really like to create with! I like the idea of graffiti on clothing, too.I am still working on the backs. I can't wait to package these up! I love to create packaging for my items also.
I'm out of camera batteries! Damn, so I am short on pics even though I created three wee paintings yesterday! I am soooo excited sbout those too, but they will have to wait till later because I can't go out to get those darned batteries!!
Anyway, my brain is on overload and so are my nerves(kids) hahaha. I will try to get it all out in product form, though.

New junk

I actually had time to make three things today! Whoa! So I feel okay with myself. Hopefully they will go up on ETSY later. This is them. Two keychains and a monster dog. I haven't thought of a name or names yet.

A Sketch

This is a sketch for a little plaque painting of a bunny I keep drawing. His name is Timney. He won't look so sinister though, it is hard to draw tiny button eyes and so it kinda made him look evil.

Handmade tags

Today I made some handmade tags to go along with my packaging. I just need to holepunch and add string, ribbon or something. I am even thinking of cut scrap material. There is so much crafty packaging inspiration out there! I am thinking of sewing papers together, from junk mail, magazines etc. to make my own wrapping.

I VOW

I am so not living up to my artsy/crafty/junker potential. I vow right now to create one thing a day, even if it is a doodle on a post-it to post here or on ETSY. I mean, come on!

I stink

I mailed out two packages today but because I was so frazzled by the kids I didn't even take shots of them in their box glory......grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Instead here is a fun place in Portland Oregon.....Beaterville Cafe.

Group shot

The middle bag is a new one going on ETSY later. I just love the color in this photo! I am going to start taking better photos of my etsy stuff because I have not been happy with my photos...too blah. I want the color of the items and the charm and quirkiness to show thine through.
