OH, and!

In the beginning of the movie Jack the Giant Slayer, there was a scene of a stage and some storytelling going on about the myth of the giants... I love stages and set design and I MUST MUST build a set one day, soon! A stage for storytelling, good storytelling, because I think it's a dying art... live storytelling, I mean. I am not a verbal storyteller but I love when I come across someone who can tell a really good story and hold an audience with the sheer magic of voice.

Jack the Giant Slayer

This evening I took the kids to see Jack the Giant Slayer at the Kennedy School Theater. We all loved it :) We took Monster Suma, too, and were going to take pics of her around the school grounds but by the time the movie was over they just wanted to run around outside. The kids did take one shot of her in front of an old photo of children who attended the school when it was really a school. I love "kid" movies and even if I didn't have kids I'd still go see them :D

The doily and things

I can't believe I almost cut up this doily...it's been sitting in front of my sewing face for months and several times I reached for it. Today I really noticed it's beauty for just what it was.
Also I must have read some of John Bellairs books as a kid but I can't remember! I know I knew of him. Anyway my daughter brought home a discarded book from the school library, The Chessmen of Doom, by John Bellairs and I started reading it one day because I was stuck somewhere with nothing to do and oh wow! He's wonderful! He is completely the kind of writer I would have read back when I was a kid but for whatever reason I just can't remember the stories, just the covers...whatever the case, I am happy to be reading them now :)
